♥
paris is burninggo watch this documentary if you can find it. its a part of the new queer cinema, and pretty damn interesting.
didnt realise new york had all these balls where queers could go all out and dress up, become whoever they want to be, for just one night. to be a woman, a schoolgirl, business exec, roles like these. and for this desire for one night of living out their fantasy, they go all out to become their very own fantasy character; stealing begging starving.
why?
ultimately
, fantasy is fantasy and can never become reality. to them, its fantasy; to us, its reality. but what is unknown to us is that the real world is all about going out, acting normal, without people actually realising who or what you are.
i wonder which is more sad: living in reality and being real but shrouded by your own fantasy, or play-acting a role for your entire life blinded by this fantasy we take to be normal and real.
we're living out their fantasy while ostracising them, that's like a double slap.
well, at least they know what they want, and have the guts to stand out as who they are. as compared to the rest of the so-called "
normal" people stuck in a rat race chasing after things which construct them and make them who they are.
and so we laugh at them to shield ourselves from our own insanity by proclaiming them as the ones who are insane.
why do "
normal" people laugh at people like them? we should be laughing at ourselves.
its a fucking mad world lah.
